The overall theme of Aladdin is that infinite strength and wealth comes from within, and it is best to be yourself because poor or rich you are a “diamond in the rough”. In the original tale Aladdin, the protagonist, loses his magical genie and discovers that true identity is a buildup of character not wealth. However, Aladdin never reveals his true identity to his wife hence the moral collapses. As the tale was modified over time, Disney’s Aladdin coveys the morals more accurately because Aladdin feels guilty for lying about being a prince and reveals his true identity to the princess. Also, in the original tale Aladdin after the discovery of the lamp, is obsessed with wealth and appears to believe that wealth can buy him happiness even the princess. He builds a magnificent palace for her as sign of love, however, in the modern audition of the tale Aladdin spends time with the princess and shows his compassion and love for her by taking her on a magic carpet across the world. Disney’s Aladdin reveals his true identity to his love, which establishes the moral of accepting oneself.
